Laura Marling – Blackberry Stone (50 plays)
Laura Marling - Blackberry Stone (demo)
I’d be sad that I never held your hand as you were lowered, but I’d understand that I’d never let it go
I’ve been a LM fan for a few years now, but I haven’t stopped playing this track since it hit the web. The reference to Noah and the Whale’s ‘Hold my hand as I’m lowered’ is poignant; Marling sings about the demise of the relationship like the death of a friend. I love the album version, but for me, the demo is beautiful. I saw her play live in York in 2010 and she was everything I hoped she would be.
